Tom Perry

Tom is a Chartered Town Planner with over 20 years experience of leading major design projects in the UK and internationally. As a Director at LDA-design, he leads the growing Cambridge studio and has recently led work to develop the Uttlesford Design Code.
Tom has an in-depth understanding of Design Review's role in the planning system and design process – of the risks and benefits to all participants including the Local Authority, having led reviews on high-profile schemes such as the Lower Thames Crossing, Heathrow and Richmond House on the Parliamentary Estate. Locally, Tom has led workshops for Dunton Hills GV in Brentwood, establishing the initial design principles.
Tom was head of architecture and built environment at The Design Council and was senior lead officer on the preparation of the National Design Guide. In addition to this Tom also established and led Design Review Panels for Heathrow Airport, the Parliamentary Estate, Highways England and Network Rail. Tom also supported MHCLG team for the National Design Guide and Model Design Code, developed the High Street Task Force visioning process and has worked on over 20 Neighbourhood Plans.
