Simon Carne


Simon originally qualified as an architect and has since that time moved into planning and urban design as part of his extended professional development.

Simon started his professional career as an architect employed at all stages of project development through to build on a variety of residential, university and arts projects from individual buildings to master planning scale.

This experience was extended to include project management and client roles at Westminster City Council predominantly working on public realm, street design and parks and open spaces. This was further developed at Urban Initiatives, an urban design practice with a national reputation for innovative planning, transport and urban design.

Over the last 10 years Simon has participated in a number of design review and quality panels predominantly in the south and south west of England but also in Wales and Scotland.

Projects undertaken at Urban Initiatives included planning and master planning for Canvey Island and Rochford. Urban Initiatives were on the EEDA design panel, and Simon was also a panel member for the East of England Design Review Panel.
