Morgan Taylor

Morgan leads the ecology team at Greengage and specialises in urban biodiversity and green infrastructure (GI) design. He holds a Bachelors and Master’s degree in Marine Biology (MSci Hons) from the University of Southampton, is a licenced bat and dormouse surveyor, Chartered Environmentalist and Full member of Chartered Institute of Ecological and Environmental Management (CIEEM). Morgan has championed biodiversity on developments throughout the UK with extensive experience of working on large planning projects with complex ecological requirements, as well as producing corporate GI and biodiversity strategies for major landholders and developers.

He won the CIEEM Members Award 2018 and was a Finalist in CIRIA’s BIG Biodiversity Champion Award 2018 for his work with GI. He is a frequent contributor to industry events, journals and conferences on the subject of urban biodiversity, as well as leading training courses on GI Design. His monitoring work has provided him a unique insight into what’s required to make ecologically functionally GI.

Morgan has worked on many projects throughout Essex, ranging from focused support on small schemes like barn conversions with bat roosts, up to extensive survey and strategic design support for major urban extension projects. He can often be found with his binoculars at Canvey Wick Nature Reserve or Rainham Marshes, with many of the Thames Gateway sites in Essex providing inspiration for his biodiverse GI design, which often focuses on rare birds and invertebrates found in the region.
