Josephine is an architect specialising in low carbon design, registered with the Architects Registration Board (ARB) and Chartered with the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), to qualify Josephine graduated from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, The Centre for Alternative Technology and University of Westminster attaining BA(Hons) Architecture: Spaces and Objects, ProfDip Architecture: Advanced Environmental and Energy Studies, and Architecture PGDip in Professional Practice respectively. In 2021, Josephine achieved international accreditation from the Passive House Institute (PHI) to certify Passivhaus projects.
Josephine has worked on small-scale architecture projects in Essex and London although much of her career has been spent on large scale public projects such as the new Museum of London at West Smithfield, and Houses of Parliament Restoration and Renewal. She has practiced using Building Information Modelling (BIM) software and managed COBie data understanding the benefits of technology in construction. Much of Josephine’s work has been orientated around historic fabric designing to retain and retrofit for a low carbon future. Until last year, she was a voluntary Steering Group Coordinator for Architects Climate Action Network (ACAN) and has tutored for LVMH x Central Saint Martins Green Concept store project.
Josephine grew up in Chelmsford and studied at the Boswells School until A levels, after which she studied towards an Art Foundation Course in Colchester, during her foundation she started specialising in spatial design and began to take an interest in Essex’s heritage. Josephine continues to enjoy cycling and exploring Essex, and recently moved closer to her Essex roots joining Essex County Council as Principal Sustainability and Built Environment Specialist, excited to draw on her personal and professional ethos continuing to weave environmentalism and altruism in construction.
