Charlotte Norman


Chartered landscape architect and founding partner at AREA landscape architects based near Ipswich, Charlotte has worked for some of the leading landscape design practices in the UK on a wide range of project scales in the arts, housing, health and education sectors. She has considerable experience of large, high-profile public realm regeneration projects, including Crystal Palace Park, London, and the redevelopment of the Southgate area within the Bath city centre World Heritage Site.  AREA’s current clients include a number of London Boroughs, commercial developers and housing associations, wildlife trusts and community organisations. 

Charlotte has lived in Essex and south Suffolk since 2001 and has worked on a wide range of projects across East Anglia. Key Essex projects include the redevelopment of the Anglia Ruskin University site in Chelmsford, City Park West, Station Square Chelmsford for Abellio Greater Anglia, landscape design and wayfinding strategy for a new visitor centre for the Essex Wildlife Trust at Langdon and a number of projects for Essex Housing, including two new independent living facilities.

Charlotte is a guest critic and studio lecturer at Writtle University College and has been a member of the RIBA Suffolk Design Review Panel since 2017.
