Robin is an Urban Designer and chartered Town Planner, who has worked for over 30 years, mainly in the public sector. His employers during that time include a number of local authorities, a Development Corporation, the London Development Agency/Design for London and, more recently, Transport for London. Here he was Head of Urban Design for 6 years, leading a multi-disciplinary team of architects, landscape architects, urban designers and heritage expert on many projects across London, ranging from the strategic to the more local. During this time, he gained a detailed insight into some of the many transport considerations involved in the planning, design and delivery of transport projects and places which has proved an invaluable addition to his urban design experience.
Robin has worked on a number of high profile and complex projects including the White Horse Bridge and square linking Wembley Stadium to the town centre, the Crystal Palace Park Masterplan, the Emirates Air Line Cable Car and the Northern Line Extension, where he was the design lead for all the above ground elements.
He has also been responsible for a number of publications including the award winning ‘SuDS in London: A guide’, the public realm design guide for Nine Elms on the South Bank and a cycle strategy for the same area, setting out a network of routes for all levels of cycling competency.
Since leaving TfL, at the beginning of 2018, he has set up his own consultancy and worked for a number of organisations on a range of projects both within the UK and also overseas. He has continued to undertake design reviews and attend workshops for organisations including the Design Council and Design South East, and also sits on Design Review Panels for several local authorities.
Robin is passionate about design and quality; his father was an architect and he grew up with the design of buildings, spaces and furniture from an early age.
