Biodiversity Net Gain
The Essex Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) Guidance Pack
The Essex Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) Guidance Pack has been produced by the BNG working group, within the Essex Local Nature Partnership. The purpose of the guidance pack is to provide you with an overview of the facts and guidance so far on BNG. The BNG guidance pack covers everything from ‘How does BNG work?’ to the ‘National Register and Statutory Credits Scheme’, providing you with a holistic outline of BNG. The guidance pack is aimed at a wide audience and is suitable for Local Planning Authorities, Developers and Landowners. England are currently in an interim period, less than a year away from mandatory BNG.
Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) reports on viability of asking for 20% BNG
Essex County Council has commissioned two reports to evaluate the feasibility of requiring developers to achieve a 20% BNG, an increase from a proposed minimum 10% figure. These reports, funded by government grants, will be shared with developers, planners, and scheme promoters to serve as an evidence base for advocating enhanced BNG.
